چکیده

Insect-inspired foot materials can enable robots to walk on surfaces reg less of the direction of gravity, which significantly increases the functi workspace of a compact robot. Previously, Mini-WhegsTM, a small ro that uses four wheel-legs for locomotion, was converted to a wall-wal robot with compliant, conventional-adhesive feet. In this work, the were replaced with a novel, reusable insect-inspired adhesive. The reus structured polymer adhesive has less tenacity than the previous adhes resulting in less climbing capability. However, af ascending vertical surfaces using the novel adhesive.

Design, Fabrication and Testing of a Miniature Wall Climbing Robot Using Smart Robotic Feet

A miniature wall climbing robot equipped with two smart robotic feet (SRF) is developed and tested. It is controlled autonomously by a PIC16F876 microcontroller and a 6 volt power supply onboard. Each SRF contains a suction cup with a diameter of 40 mm, a vacuum pump, a pressure sensor, and a micro valve. The robot’s motion is driven by two servo motors which are electronically linked and synch...

Stiffness control of a legged robot equipped with a serial manipulator in stance phase

The ability to perform different tasks by a serial manipulator mounted on legged robots, increases the capabilities of the robot. The position/force control problem of such a robot in the stance phase with point contacts on the ground is investigated here. A target plane with known stiffness is specified in the workspace. Active joints of the legs and serial manipulator are used to exert the de...

Radiation attenuation properties of shields containing micro and Nano WO3 in diagnostic X-ray energy range

Background: It has recently been shown that the particle size of materials used for radiation shielding can affect the magnitude of radiation attenuation. Over the past years, application of nano-structured materials in radiation shielding has attracted attention world-wide. The purpose of this study was to investigate the shielding properties of the lead-free shields containing micro and nano-...

Toward Micro Wall-Climbing Robots Using Biomimetic Fibrillar Adhesives

Climbing is a challenging task for autonomous mobile robots primarily due to requirements for agile locomotion, and high maneuverability as well as robust and efficient attachment and detachment. A novel miniature wall-climbing robot is proposed. The robot is adapted for the wall-climbing task by taking advantage of down scaling and its low design. Challenges encountered during robot miniaturiz...
